Can my hormone levels affect my memory?
Forgetfulness
Two very important hormones are related to memory loss and general forgetfulness. The first one is thyroid.
The thyroid gland runs the metabolism of the entire body. When thyroid levels are low, many functions of the body slow down, including your
brain function. Low thyroid can affect your ability to remember things and may also prevent you from effectively concentrating. Checking your
thyroid can be one of the most important steps in restoring full brain functionality.
The second hormone affecting memory is estrogen. Low estrogen levels can have the same effect on your brain and
can decrease your ability to remember things and concentrate.
At the Center for Hormonal Healing™ in Birmingham, Alabama, our program encompasses a complete analysis of all your hormone
levels, including estrogen and thyroid. Remember that to have your thyroid checked means more than having the standard "TSH" test performed,
which seldom identifies low thyroid. At our center we test both your T4 and free T3.
